ILLUMINATION SURVEYS

At Safety Nation Hse HSE, we take your health and safety very seriously and offer the most comprehensive services in the industry. In order to safeguard your vision health, we offer many services that can help optimize visual acuity in the workplace. An example is illumination surveys, here we examine lighting in your workplace and compare the results to standards set by the Canadian Government and The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America(IESNA). Since lighting greatly affects vision and the ability to see clearly, if it is not adequate, it can cause a variety of symptoms such as eye strain, headaches, and create safety hazards. ILLUMINATION SURVEYS are conducted by an Industrial Hygienist in order to assess if lighting is adequate and meets government standards. Using a light meter, a specific area is mapped out in a grid and light measurements are taken and recorded in Lux. Depending on the area, acceptable ranges can be determined. As a general standard, lighting measured between 500-1000 lux when measured at 30 inches above the floor is considered adequate. For more information regarding Illumination Surveys or other services pertaining to vision health, please call (587) 597-8378.

PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING is conducted by our Occupational Health Nurses and Pulmonary Function Technicians onsite at your facility for convenience. The test typically takes 20 min to complete and involves a medical questionnaire, height, weight, and blood pressure assessment as well as a breathing manoeuvre. Employees are asked not to have a large meal, or a cigarette, or any vasodilators 1 hour prior to the test. Being that the test also involves forced expiration, some conditions such as a recent stroke or heart attack, cataract or abdominal surgeries, as well as high blood pressure may be contraindicated to testing. Pulmonary function testing is a requirement under Alberta OH&S Code if workers are exposed to silica, asbestos, or lead in the workplace. Reference: https://open.alberta.ca/dataset/18cab3a0-444a-4303-95ce-3d8d2b1e61c3/resource/383ac443-24a4-477b-8be1-92c1a5eb7c7e/download/whs-pub-ch059.pdf For more information regarding pulmonary function testing or other services pertaining to respiratory health, please call (587) 597-8378.

CHEST X-RAYS

Pulmonary function testing is then used to quantify the effectiveness of your Respiratory Health Program, and ensure that the health of your employees is being maintained from year to year. Lastly, and most importantly, if the pulmonary function testing results show any signs of abnormality, then clients are referred by our Physician for x-ray testing as a follow-up for medical clearance. CHEST X-RAYS are required as part of a medical follow-up if pulmonary function testing is abnormal or if an employee is exposed to potential air-borne hazards in the workplace. Depending on the results of the x-ray and the symptoms that the employee is experiencing, a consult with our Physician specializing in Occupational Medicine may also be indicated. If treatment is required, the Physician will then make any necessary referrals so that the employee can return to health as soon as possible. MOBILE COVID-19 TESTING SERVICES

People struggled to get the assistance they needed through the pandemic because of the rules and regulations the authorities were putting down. With the new rules that they implemented, people had to stay indoors for the most part. Companies were getting onboard to new processes that were now talking about remote working and virtual meetings. The changes at some points made it challenging to meet the same level of output and productivity. Concerning our work, we were fortunate during the pandemic because we work with services directly connected to assisting and helping people who made the entire process easier. However, new rules, with their constant changes, were making the process a little challenging, but we were improving and getting better. We needed permissions to move around during the lockdown, and we were working on keeping that in place. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted everything within almost all industries, especially the travel and hospitality sector. However, our company thrived due to the new mandated health regulations imposed on our clients, who were thankful that we were there to help them stay open during these difficult times. Our company primarily works onsite, where we perform tests. In this situation, generally, only the practitioner and client are present at any given time. Even here, if possible, social distancing is practiced. We make everyone follow as many of the rules as possible, and we try to maintain the required distance among other things. However, when we work in person, being an industrial hygiene company, we adhere to the most strict precautions to prevent infection. To begin with, all of our staff have had at least one, if not two COVID vaccine doses. We also wear full PPE suits, including masks, goggles or face shields, protective clothing, and gloves. We also limit numbers to one staff member and client and thoroughly disinfect all materials that get in contact with clients with hospital-grade disinfectants. If you plan to work with Canada’s most diversified health, safety, and environmental resource provider, connect with Safety Nation HSE Inc. We provide industrial hygiene testing, air quality monitoring, online safety training, drug and alcohol testing, and several other features to keep you safe from the virus. While we started working remotely for a bit, we handle a lot of our work in person. If you are planning on connecting with us, we are open to adding new clients onboard. If you want to get a better understanding of the services that we provide, please click here. If you are looking to connect with us or think that we can assist in any way, please click here. We include services in every province and territory in Canada including ALBERTA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, SASKATCHEWAN, Manitoba, Quebec, Ontario, NEW BRUNSWICK, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, NOVA SCOTIA, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. ASBESTOS TESTING & ABATEMENT

ASBESTOS TESTING AND ABATEMENT is performed by our Certified Asbestos Remediation Technicians and all air quality is monitored by our Industrial Hygienist to control fiber release while abatement procedures are being conducted. Although today asbestos is no longer used, it was used extensively prior to 1990 in many building materials such as building exteriors, flooring, ceilings, walls, pipe insulation, as well as in many other products. It was the preferred choice due to it’s strength, insulating and fire-resistant properties, and mineral composition which could easily be added to the cement. Now that its health risks have been identified and linked to mesothelioma and asbestosis, only highly trained professionals should attempt to deal with this hazardous material. If you suspect that asbestos is present in your building or used as a coating on a pipe or other materials, please halt all work and call the professionals at (587) 597-8378. MOLD TESTING & ABATEMENT

MOLD ABATEMENT is used to refer to procedures to control mold release or to remove it entirely. Since mold occurs naturally in our environment, it is normal for some mold to grow in our homes, especially in areas such as washrooms or kitchens where water sources exist. The problem arises when this mold begins to grow uncontrollably and spreads throughout your home, putting your family’s health at risk. If you suspect that mold is present in your home or business, please call the professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (587) 597-8378.
